Paver Cleaning & Sealing
We use and recommend Seal N Lock™ Natural Luster Water Based sealant. Both environmentally
and user friendly this water based sealer is a high solids, urethane modified acrylic sealer (with an algae
and mold inhibitor) that penetrates the pavers to provide a protective barrier with superior joint
stabilization (no need for polymeric sand) resulting in a natural luster. Natural Luster is user friendly
and environmentally safe. Our solids content of urethane and acrylic wears evenly and will last as long
as solvent based sealers.
In simple terms: Sealing your brick is like desert to your dinner, sometimes you have room for it,
sometimes you don't. Brick, over time, becomes like a dirty kitchen sponge. If left unprotected it will
grow mold and algae in the core of the brick, making it a maintenance issue. The joint stabilization
means that it is going to turn the sand hard, therefore preventing wash out...a nice benefit!
Nature Coast offers professional brick cleaning and sealing as a service. When done as a service we
pressure wash the entire paver area first, even though brick may be newly installed, brick is porous and
will have "clogged pores", these pores need to be cleaned so the sealer is applied to the actual brick not
the brick dust and sand collected in the pores. The process of pressure washing will wash out the joint
sand, we will then re-sand the joints and apply two coats of sealer. Because Seal N Lock is a water
based sealer, pavers can be pressure washed and sealed all in one day! No more waiting days for
pavers to dry, hoping the rains don't come. Sealer dries in a few hours for foot traffic, it is
recommended that you wait at least 24 hours before parking on the newly sealed pavers or before
replacing patio furniture.
For the Do It Yourself Homeowner: Seal N Lock™ can be purchased at our office for self
application. For even coverage we recommend spraying the sealer rather than rolling. We carry Seal
N Lock in various size containers to avoid over purchasing.
